Founded as a vaudeville theater in 1926, the UNITED was a go-to destination for film and live entertainment lovers in Westerly, RI and the surrounding area until 1986, when its doors were sadly shut. The landmark theatre and several neighboring buildings were acquired by the Westerly Land Trust 15 years ago, and an ambitious restoration project with a vision to unite the community through the arts begun to take shape.
Our work on the UNITED brand began with the development of the foundational visual identity system for the arts complex back in 2018, at the outset of architectural design and construction. Over the course of the last three years, the core branding system has served as the basis for the design of the UNITED’s interior and exterior spaces, the comprehensive wayfinding and signage system developed by our team, as well as supporting collateral, communications materials, and sub-brands associated with the arts complex.
We are so excited to see this incredible venue now open to the public.
