For three months in the fall of 2008, Starbucks offered its customers a free GOOD Sheet along with their coffee. “Order up a double macchiato with a side of debate” as the New York Times put it. A free weekly paper breaking down an important issue in each installment, each GOOD sheet was a folded piece of newsprint that presented data and statistics on a given topic in one big information graphic. The series consisted of 11 GOOD Sheets, ranging in themes from health care spending, to illegal immigration, from the state of public education to how you can participate in national service.
Each GOOD sheet was designed by a different studio, and Kiss Me I’m Polish was invited to create the final one ā exploring our nation’s holiday spending. Published the week of Thanksgiving and the infamous Black Friday, the exploration was entitled “Our Present Economy” and analyzed what we spend our holiday money on, how much we’ve spent over the years and how this annual economic boom breaks down over the holiday season. Check it out in more detail on the GOOD website.
