Winners of NYC BigApps announced
At an event held at the IAC Building on Thursday evening, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the 13 winners of NYC’s first mobile app competition which invited developers to submit applications using raw sets of municipal data released by the city in October of last year.
The winners included WayFinder NYC – an augmented reality app which helps you find the nearest subway, Taxihack – which lets you post comments on taxis and drivers, and Big Apple Ed – which offers detailed info about the city’s public school system. Check-out all the amazing apps here: www.nycbigapps.com
Kiss Me I’m Polish was honored to design the branding and website for this initiative.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants!

Picture of Getting Things Done
A photo of Agnieszka, taken by our dear friend Miha Matei, accompanied a “Shape Your Life” editiorial in the most recent issue of SHAPE magazine. The piece outlined a list of tips for getting things crossed off your to-do list in order to feel more in control of your life.
A challenge we know all too well! ;-)

Duck Duck Green has hatched!
Just in time for the holiday season, our friends at Duck Duck Green have unveiled their new online shop! Founded on the beliefs that child-care products should not only be safe for both babies and the environment, but that it’s just plain better to be surrounded by cool-looking stuff, Duck Duck Green offers everything you need to live green with your baby. A portion of their proceeds is also donated to 1% for the Planet.
Check out their website and the cute logo we designed for this great new brand!

First TAKE ON New York Showdown
Held at the 7 Train Theater in Flushing, Queens, the first TAKE ON New York Showdown brought ten back-to-back traditional Muay Thai face-offs to a sold-out audience of over 800 pumped participants. Kiss Me I’m Polish designed the identity for this new event series and we were beyond stoked to see our logo all over the fighters’ gear, the ring and various collateral materials that night.
Definitely keep an eye out for upcoming TAKE ON Showdowns cause they’re taking New York by storm!
Chok dee!
MAKE / THINK AIGA design conference
This October, the AIGA hosted another one of its biennial design conferences – this time in Memphis, TN. Entitled “Make/Think,” the 3-day event explored the dual roles of designers as makers of beautiful things and strategic problem solvers. As part of the conference’s line-up, KMIP’s Agnieszka Gasparska took part in an “Art Direction on the Web” panel with Ian Adelman (nymag.com + menupages.com) and Khoi Vinh (NYTimes.com).

Notes on Design Interview
The online magazine Notes on Design – recently talked with Agnieszka Gasparska about the Kiss Me I’m Polish studio, being from Poland and pack-rat-itis.

Forbes.com features ChallengePost
In an August 3rd Thought Leaders post, Forbes.com touted the recently-launched ChallengePost as the “eBay for Innovation.” Described by founder Brandon Kessler as a public marketplace for “getting something done when that something in your head doesn’t exist,” ChallengePost aggregates innovation contests in a single online platform. Users can post challenges directly on the site, and visitors can support a challenge or opt to pledge money to raise the stakes.
Kiss Me I’m Polish designed the ChallengePost logo and the visual strategy for the website. View the full case study.

Our work is up for two Webby’s!
Two of our projects have been recognized at this year’s 13th Annual Webby Awards.
The THRILLIST website has been shortlisted for the Best “Guides / Ratings / Reviews” and our design of the NEA Jazz in the Schools web-based toolkit has been awarded an Honorary Webby in Education.

Blessed Bike Seat
That’s Agnieszka’s saddle (and arm) as documented by WNYC’s Stephen Nessen during the sixth annual blessing of the bikes at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. What a spectacular event that was. And the best part – a grand finale lap *inside* the cathedral.

The Shirt Project
Recipients of a Rhoda Lubalin Fellowship, Rich Watts and Kiss Me I’m Polish’s very own Louise Ma produced ten t-shirts from August 2007 to March 2009. Each was printed with diagrams that relayed information from a recent news story, and was available by subscription, like a newspaper.
Their grande finale shirt dealt with the creeping death of newsprint. It features the work of twelve New York City-based designers, arranged like a classified ad section. Among the designs is a contribution by Agnieszka Gasparska, illustrating the drop in stock values of the top six U.S. Newspaper companies.
